Escentric Molecules make single molecule perfumes. Many say that they are not perfumes at all as they are too simple. Also, many people cannot even smell Molecule 01 which is based on Iso E Super. Though, from my TikTok comments, it turns out that there are some people who are very sensitive to it and really dislike the smell. To most it’s just a gentle woody sort of scent on the skin.
When perfumer Geza Schoen first smelt Iso E Super in isolation, something clicked. “I realised that the common denominator in all the fragrances I liked was that they contained a large dose of it. Iso E Super is highly unusual. You can never get enough of it. One sniff and you want the whole bottle. It’s like a drug.”
