Description

I was playing around with taking photos of a bottle of Guerlain’s Shalimar for an Instagram post. What I wanted to do in this photo was to capture the feeling of Shalimar which of course is impossible as it’s so personal but I hope I have conveyed some of what it means at least for me.

Shalimar was created by Jacques Guerlain, the story is that he added the newly synthesised vanillin to the 1889 Jicky and came up with this new fragrance. The bottle was designed by Raymond Guerlain.

Shalimar was launched three times, first in 1921 then re-named No 90 for legal reasons then again in 1925 when the name dispute has been resolved
